Feb 1, 2020, 5:00 AM

Kingmakers of Oakland has been named Bonneville Seattle’s February charity of the month. While the organization originated in Oakland, California, Kingmakers has partnered with Seattle Public Schools and the City of Seattle to bring this program to Washington. Kingmakers works with the school district to address problems of practice facing Black male achievement.
Their goal is to support district teams while leveraging their collective genius to identify the systems, structures, conditions and culture that when sustained will lead to improved educational and life outcomes for Black male students and to promote racial equity through education.
Members of the KOO Learning Collaborative aim to improve the systems, structures, conditions and culture for Black males in the education system. The organization works with Seattle Public Schools to implement the program, as well as the district’s department for African American Male Achievement.
